Meet Christine & Karen

Karen and Christine

Our journey starts with a Leap of Faith.

Karen grew up in Toronto Ontario and Christine grew up in Georgetown then together they moved to a smaller community an hour west of Toronto.

We enjoyed our family, friends and a community in Cambridge Ontario for many years but every chance we got, we would head to Northern Ontario just to get back to nature.

Being in nature and near water offered us a “reset”. It’s easy for people to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of city life. Then a pandemic arrives and changes everything.

It accelerated our decision to take that leap and move to beautiful Cape Breton.

We have been overwhelmed by the hospitality of Cape Bretoners and the beauty of this island. There’s something very magical about this place.
We decided to open Fiddler’s Lake Escape to offer others that same magical feeling.

Explore the beauty of Cape Breton and decompress at Fiddler’s Lake Escape.

How to find us

When crossing the Canso Causeway (the dam that connects Cape Breton Island to the Mainland Nova Scotia) you are heading towards Sydney on Route 4. Stay on that road until you reach Sydney. Some GPS’ like to send you via ‘Morley Road’ to Marion Bridge. It’s a gravel road. Ignore that and stay on Hwy 4 towards Sydney!
In Sydney: Turn right onto Hwy 125 towards Glace Bay, New Waterford, Louisbourg. Take the next exit (Exit 7) off Hwy 125 towards Marion Bridge/Gabarus, which is Highway 327, the Fleur de Lis Trail. Stay on Highway 327!

After crossing the bridge in Marion Bridge follow Hwy 327 towards Gabarus / Forchu… After 12km (approx. 12 minutes) after Marion Bridge turn right onto Joanne Langford Drive, then follow the signs to civic number 77.

If you have a GPS please type in ’77 Joanne Langford Drive’ and it will find us. For not so up-to-date systems search for French Road, NS (which is our village).

Please check in between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
